The Acquired Brain Injury Advisory Council (ABIAC) will hold a public hearing on Saturday Aug. 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at the DHHS offices (located in the Skyway Plaza) in Caribou, to receive information from persons with brain injuries, their families, rehabilitation experts, providers of services and the public, in an effort to generate greater understanding of this growing pubic health issue.
The ABIAC is seeking responses to the Council’s 2010 needs assessment, “Brain Injury in Maine: A Needs Assessment,” the published priorities set by the ABIAC and the unmet needs of persons with brain injuries and their families.
The ABIAC welcomes either written or oral comments at the hearing, which will be held in Conference Room A and B. In addition, written comments will be accepted through close of business on Monday, Nov. 1 and should be submitted to: Acquired Brain Injury Advisory Council, Brain Injury Services, OACPDS/DHHS, 11 State House Station, 2nd Floor Marquardt Building, Augusta, Me. 04333-0011 or e-mail to OACPDS.DHHS@maine.gov.
