Caribou overcame an opening round loss to eventual champion to reach the final against Waldo County.

After losing to Waldo County 5-4 in the first round, Caribou reeled off wins again Harbor House by a big margin, a 17-2 win over Holbrook and 19-9 victory over Fort Fairfield.

In the game against their County rival Caribou’s Caleb Willett and Austin Scott each hit 2-run home runs over the centerfield fence to lead the way. Tyler Dombroski had three hits and Zach Wright added two hits.  Mason Huck was Caribou’s starting pitcher, going the first 1 2/3 innings. Noah Frost came in to finish the game and earned the victory.

Fort Fairfield’s leading hitters were Carter Bruce, who had three hits and four RBI, Jake Flewelling with a double and a single and Chris Giberson with a single. Fort Fairfield was knocked out of the tournament with a 1-2 record.

Following the win over Fort Fairfield, Caribou had a comeback victory over Old Town, 8-7.

That set up Caribou for another crack at Waldo County for the tournament title.

Revenge was not to be had, however, as Waldo County again raced out to 5-0 lead. Caribou chipped away, but Waldo County also bumped their run total and came out with the 9-4 victory to win the championship.

Wright, with two doubles, and Jacob Burby, with a double and single, were Caribou’s only multi-hit players in the game. Dombroski, Caleb Willett and Burby all pitched for Caribou.

After the game, Caribou was presented with the runner-up trophy, and was later honored with the Sportsmanship Award for the tournament.

Both awards will be displayed at the snack shack at the Robert White Little League Field in Caribou.
