‘Golf For A Cause’ event to be held Sept. 16-17

    A “Golf For A Cause” weekend will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16-17 at the Houlton Community Country Club to raise money for the Houlton Health Foundation’s purchase of a digital mammogram machine.
    On Friday, Sept. 16, a cross-country par-3 tournament (nine hole) three-person mixed scramble will be played. Registration and social time is from 4-5:30 p.m., followed by a shotgun start at 5:30 p.m.
    Only one player with a handicap under 10 is allowed per team. There must be at least one man and one woman per team. Team handicap is based off lowest handicap players on the team.
    There will be net prizes for the top three teams.
    On Saturday, Sept. 17, “Golf For A Cause” mixed four-person scramble of 18 holes is on tap, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
    Each team must have one man and one woman per team. The total handicap of the two best players on each team must total at least 20 or more.
    Prizes for low gross and low net will be presented.
    During the weekend, tickets will be available on a Breast Cancer Awareness quilt or tote bag. The tickets can be purchased from any Lady Golf Association member or call Pam Mailman at 532-7549 or Brittany Benn at 532-3396.
