HOULTON — Even though the cold weather is fast approaching, Tim Hortons Café and Bake Shop is hoping local residents will still want to satisfy their ice cream cravings.
Brynn Burton, manager of Public Relations in the United States for Ontario-based Tim Hortons, confirmed Friday that Houlton’s Tim Hortons location was adding the “Cold Stone Creamery” line to its business.
BU-CLR-Tim Hortons-dcx-pt-39    “We will be opening a new Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop on Sept. 29 located at 290 North St., Houlton,” Burton said. “The new restaurant location will feature all of the same Tim Hortons products everyone knows and loves, but in an entirely new setting.”
According to Burton, the remodeled restaurant will feature the new Café and Bake Shop concept, which includes large club seats, plasma TVs, fireplaces, new menu and ordering technology, as well as the Cold Stone Creamery products.
There are currently nine locations in the state for Cold Stone Creamery/Tim Hortons. Those locations include Bangor, Lincoln, Brewer, Waterville, Rockland, Lewiston, Brunswick, Portland and South Portland.
According to the Cold Stone Creamery website, the company was co-founded in 1988 by Susan and Donald Sutherland who sought ice cream that was neither hard-packed nor soft-serve. The ice cream is described as “smooth and creamy super-premium ice cream.”
In 2009, Cold Stone Creamery partnered with Tim Hortons to allow each business to expand into Canada and the United States respectively.
Ice cream, cakes, smoothies and shakes are part of the regular Cold Stone Creamery menu.
