NFCU BRANCHES in central and northern Aroostook County teamed up Sept. 11 to host NFCU’s 2011 Ride to End Hunger. More than 65 participants made the journey via motorcycles and other modes of transportation, making stops at each branch along the way. Riders enjoyed lunch and several prizes were awarded. Here, the group stops at the Presque Isle office.
The ride encompassed a 165-mile loop and riders were greeted in Fort Kent, Eagle Lake, Ashland, Presque Isle and Van Buren by employees working to ensure that participants had adequate access to the facilities as well as coffee, sweets and more.
Motorists enjoyed the scenic views along Routes 11, 227 or 163 out of Ashland then back on Route 1 to Van Buren and Madawaska.
Rider registration was $15 and included a T-shirt, an extra drawing ticket for those who pre-registered, drawing tickets at every stop, and then back to Madawaska for the 4 p.m. drawing.
“It was a nice day, a bit windy, but all in all a great tour,” stated Karen Bouchard Morneault, NFCU employee and tour organizer. “I anticipate twice that amount next year.”
CEO David Rossignol, along with his wife Val, enjoyed the tour as well via convertible.
Rossignol, who was an avid motorcyclist for years, enjoyed the outing along with friends and co-workers.
