Rotary Auction draws nearer

What makes the Houlton Rotary Auction so special? The 56th annual auction will be special because it will give us the opportunity to bid on, and purchase, something that we can use. It works because individuals and businesses in the Houlton area have donated their products and services, making it possible for your purchase price to support important local projects.
This year’s donations exceed $50,000. The major projects to be funded by this year’s auction include new equipment for the Houlton Parks and Rec playground at Community Park, the Houlton Methodist Church Backpack for Kids project to fight hunger, Aid for Kids projects to bring literacy and other necessities to all kids, the Southern Aroostook Development Commission community sign planned for the Intersection of I-95 and Rt.1.  Funds will also go to some of Houlton Rotary’s regular programs including Dollars for Scholars, Cary Library, Salvation Army, Rotary Youth Exchange Program, Rotary Foundation, and the annual Student Recognition Day.
Donations are still being accepted.  Contact any Rotarian or Auction Chairman Ryan Bushey at ryan.bushey@lpcorp.com , and don’t forget to bid during the auction,  Nov. 21-23, before Thanksgiving.
The auction supplement will appear in the Nov. 16, edition of the Houlton Pioneer Times. Copies will also be distributed through area businesses and will be available online at www.houltonrotary.org.
