Preseason tournament at FFHS
has some very close finishes

FORT FAIRFIELD — It was a busy two days of basketball in Fort Fairfield at the fourth annual Preseason Invitational Tournament. Fort Fairfield High School invited teams from Limestone, Greater Houlton Christian Academy, Van Buren and Easton to participate.
On Friday, the Easton girls got a last-second driving layup to win, 43-42, over Limestone/MSSM. The second match of the day was Limestone and GHCA. Greater Houlton posted a 70-55 win. The host Fort Fairfield girls lost a close game to Van Buren, 46-42, and the boys posted a 10-point win over the Crusaders, 53-43.
Eight games were on the slate for Saturday. In the early games, the Fort Fairfield girls won over Easton, 52-37, the Tiger boys lost to GHCA, 68-58, Van Buren topped the Limestone girls, 55-38 and the Limestone boys defeated Van Buren, 51-44.
In the late session, the Van Buren girls beat the Easton girls, 51-24, GHCA stayed perfect on the weekend topping Van Buren by two, 54-52, the Fort Fairfield girls overcame Limestone, 55-47 and in the nightcap the Fort Fairfield boys defeated Limestone, 58-48.
