Five crowns to be handed out Saturday
at Mapleton pageant

The 2012 Mapleton pageant will be held Saturday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Presque Isle High School auditorium. Five crowns will be handed out during the pageant including Little Miss, Pre-Teen Miss, Junior Miss, Teen Miss and Miss.

five new queens following their pageant Saturday, April 7. Vying for the title of Little Miss are:
• Delaney Alward, daughter of Wendy and Chris Maple and David Alward, who will be presenting a monologue entitled “Circus Wonders” by Gerrie Berzig.
• Libby Kinney, daughter of Kevin and LeRae Kinney. Libby will be performing a dance routine to “Party Rock Anthem.”
Contestants running for Pre-Teen Miss are:
• Jaidyn Blake, daughter of Jeff and Jolene Blake. Jaidyn will be singing “Fireflies” by Owl City Band.
• Katelyn Amero, daughter of Scott and Laurie Amero. Katelyn will be performing a clogging routine to “You Should Be Dancing” by the Bee Gees.
• Paige McHatten, daughter of Matt and Kelly McHatten. Paige will be performing a jazz dance routine to “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead” by the cast of “Glee.”
• Elizabeth Collins, daughter of Darren and Michelle Collins. Elizabeth will be performing a ballet dance en pointe to “Drops of Jupiter” by Train.

2011 JUNIOR MISS MAPLETON

The pageant will be held at 6:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased from any contestant or at the door. The pageant is sponsored by the PIHS Class of 2014.
Junior Miss contestants include:
• Michaela Dubé, daughter of Valerie Black. Michaela will be singing “Hallelujah” by Alexandra Burke.
• Grace Braley, daughter of Glendon and Anne Braley. Grace will be singing “Ours” by Taylor Swift.
• Shaye McHatten, daughter of Matt and Kelly McHatten. Shaye will be performing a lyrical ballet dance to “Safe and Sound” by Taylor Swift from the movie “The Hunger Games.”
• Victoria Williamson, daughter of Theodore and Marla Williamson. Victoria will be presenting a lyrical dance to “Little Wonders” by Rob Thomas.
TWO CONTESTANTS 
will be competing for the title of Miss Mapleton while four girls will be vying for the Teen Miss Mapleton title. • Naomi McEachern, daughter of Bruce McEachern and Pamela McEachern. Naomi will be performing a monologue entitled “Adelaide’s Lament.”
• Hannah Guerrette, daughter of Gary Guerrette, Kim Guerrette Michaud and Carl Michaud. Hannah will be performing a jazz dance routine to “Mister Zoot Suit” by The Flying Neutrinos.
• Logan Caron, daughter of Buffy Hafford and Keith Caron. Logan will be presenting a hip-hop dance routine to “Switch” by Will Smith.
• Bobbie-Sioux Murchison, daughter of Kathleen and Bill Murchison. Bobbie-Sioux will be presenting a self-composed poem.
Miss contestants include:
• Kali Warner, daughter of Mike and Tina Warner. Kali will be performing a contemporary lyrical dance routine to “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri.
• Sarah McEachern, daughter of Bruce McEachern and Pamela McEachern. Sarah will be clogging to “This Is How a Heart Breaks” by Rob Thomas.
Reigning queens Little Miss Mapleton Madelyn Buzza, Pre-Teen Miss Mapleton Sarah Craig; Junior Miss Mapleton Emma Langille and Teen Miss Mapleton Rachel Dow will all be performing during the pageant, as well. Tickets are $8 each and are available from any of the contestants or can be purchased at the door. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. The pageant is sponsored by Presque Isle High School’s Class of 2014.

Mapleton Daze meeting
Just a reminder that the Mapleton Lions Club will be holding an organizational meeting for those interested in helping with the 2012 Mapleton Daze plans tomorrow, Thursday, April 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the hall.
Patriotic performance
The third-grade students at Mapleton Elementary School will be presenting a patriotic performance Friday, April 6 at 9:30 a.m. in the school’s cafeteria. Any and all local veterans are cordially invited to attend! Greeters will meet those attending at the cafeteria entrance.
Easter Egg Hunt
The Mapleton and Washburn United Methodist Churches will be sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt for local communities Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Thomas Brewer Park in Washburn. With the recent unseasonably warm temperatures and melting snow, the churches thought this would be a great opportunity for area children to experience an outdoor egg hunt similar to other states in warmer climates. Please bring your children for a morning of fun!
Mapleton Alumni meeting
The annual business meeting of the Mapleton Alumni Association will be held April 18 at the Lion’s Hall at 6:30 p.m. The annual banquet will be discussed, as well as any other business. All Mapleton Alumni are invited to attend. For more information, please call Anita Currier at 764-0221.
