The Presque Isle Wildcats golf team participated in a warm-up match Monday to prepare for Thursday’s Penobscot Valley Conference championship meet, which is a qualifier for the upcoming state tournaments to be held at Natanis Golf Club in Vassalboro.

Fellow PVC schools Caribou and John Bapst joined the Wildcats for a match played Monday at JaTo Highlands in Lincoln, the site of Thursday’s match.

PI golfers fashioned some low scores, with Michael Boone the medalist with a 37, Adam Flynn coming in with a 38 and Gabe Player carding a 39.

Jenna Hallett shot a 40, Karson Eaton a 41, Liam Hughes a 45 and Josh Gordon a 48 to round out the list of Wildcat competitors.

PI had a team total of 154. Caribou and Bapst tied with 189 strokes, with the Vikings taking second in a tie-breaker.

Last Tuesday, the Wildcats made the trip to Fort Kent for a dual match with the Warriors.

Fort Kent’s Ali Prescott earned medalist honors with a 42, but PI won the match, 180-210 as Flynn shot a 44, Boone and Player 45s and Gordon a 46 to lead the charge.

    Hughes shot a 48, Hallett a 50, Eaton a 51 and Carter LaPointe a 58.

Presque Isle went 8-1 during the regular season, with the lone loss coming early on against Houlton.
