Mike Willette: The real deal

To the editor:

The voters of House District 5 are indeed fortunate in that they have the opportunity to return the Honorable Michael Willette to the Statehouse for another term. As both a business associate of Mr. Willette’s for many years, and as a friend of the family, I want to take a moment to give my wholehearted endorsement to this truly exceptional representative of the people.

The first quality that the voters should demand of their elected representatives should be character. Mike has this in spades. One definition of character is: “It’s what you do when you don’t think anyone is watching.”

Mike has distinguished himself during his lifetime by becoming a much beloved educator, a successful businessman involved in one of the largest real estate companies in central Aroostook, has served as a combat medic during the Gulf War, has already served two very successful terms in the state legislature, has raised a thriving and happy family, and last but certainly not least, has been a tried, true and faithful husband to his lovely wife of many years. This is character.

The second most important quality is proficiency. The ability to get the job done. Mike is an expert negotiator, a true statesman, a problem solver. I know, I’ve worked with him many years; I’ve seen him in action. He does whatever is necessary to achieve what’s best for his constituents — always, regardless of which side of the aisle he needs to work. He is a problem solver, a troubleshooter, an advocate, and he works for us.

Think about it, it’s an easy choice. Mike Willette, the real thing, real integrity, real honesty, real problem solver and real skills. The real deal.
