Editor’s note: The following article is a synopsis written by staff members and volunteers of the Cary Public Library highlighting one of the suggested reading books, as determined by their staff.
Disappointed with the election’s outcome? This week’s featured book lends a wee bit of comic relief while explaining the traditional voting process as it was designed to function.
“Woodrow For President, A Tail of Voting, Campaigns, and Elections “ by Peter and Cheryl Barnes is a rhyming text about a civic-minded mouse, who lives an exemplary life and is finally elected to the U.S. presidency. Notably lacking in the text is reference to the electoral college piece, political action committees, voter fraud, and annoying ads with more-than-annoying phone calls. BUT, for a basic and fun way to explain to children the importance of election years with cute pictures and rhyme, this is your volume.
As part of the Library’s Christmas gifts as memorials this one is available for a $10 donation.
Happy Reading!
