Hazlett promoted at MMG Insurance

    PRESQUE ISLE — MMG Insurance Co., a property and casualty insurer headquartered in Presque Isle, has announced the promotion of Douglas R. Hazlett to vice president and personal lines manager. Prior to joining MMG, Hazlett held a variety of personal lines leadership and strategic management positions with a large national carrier.
    Most recently, he was town manager in Houlton.

    In addition, Hazlett has also worked as an independent consultant with Milliman Consulting and was responsible for developing underwriting policy and automation for a countrywide insurance agency.
    “We are excited to bring Doug’s many years of experience to our leadership team as we continue to solidify our position as a top regional personal lines writer,” said MMG President and Chief Executive Officer Larry Shaw. “His knowledge in the areas of pricing, automation and independent agency interaction are a great fit with the foundations of our franchise. We look forward to his many contributions to our continued evolution in the highly competitive personal lines marketplace.”
    In his role, Hazlett will be responsible for personal lines underwriting management across MMG’s five states of operation. He will also lead MMG’s pricing strategies and be involved with new efforts to improve workflow and ease of doing business with its agency partners.
    Hazlett holds a degree in business administration and economics from Bryant College.
    He is also active with his local community having been involved with a variety of civic organizations.
    Hazlett currently serves on the board of directors of Houlton Regional Hospital. He resides in New Limerick with his wife, Kim.
