Dutch Soccer Academy indoor season continues
The second trimester of the Dutch Soccer Academy indoor program gets under way for students in first grade and under this Friday at Hilltop Elementary School in Caribou.
The program meets from 3-4 p.m. for pre-kindergarten children and from 4-5 p.m. for those in kindergarten and first grade. Sessions will continue on Fridays through Feb. 8
Players in grades 2-8 will meet beginning Friday, Jan. 4 at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. Grades 2-3 go from 5:15-6:30 p.m., grades 4-5 from 6:30-7:45 p.m. and grade 6-8 from 7:45-9 p.m. Program dates are Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25 and Feb. 1 and 15.

Alumni game slated
An alumni basketball game, featuring former players from Presque Isle against former players from Caribou, is being organized by the 2013 Project Graduation Committee at Caribou High School.
The event will take place Friday, Dec. 28 at Caribou High School beginning at 6 p.m. A few players are still needed to play on the Caribou women’s alumni team. Anyone wishing to participate should contact Shelley Massey at 554-7504.
Men’s basketball league standings
Standings in the Caribou Men’s Basketball League as of Dec. 6 are as follows: Loring Job Corps (5-1), Griffeth Ford (4-1), Gagnon’s Studio (5-2), Spartans (4-2), Blvd. Graphix (3-2), Pipe Layers (2-4), Twisted Pear (1-4), AOE (1-5), Purple Cobras (1-5).
CMS boys win 2 of 3
The Caribou Middle School’s eighth-grade boys’ basketball team took two out of three games in recent play.
In a 53-42 victory over Fort Fairfield Nov. 29, the Vikes used effective pressure and production from Dominick Judd (23 points and 15 rebounds) and Josiah Krul (18 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists) to come out on top.
Houlton bested CMS Dec. 3 thanks to a 21-10 run in the fourth quarter that broke open a close game. Judd had 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the way for the Vikings.
Caribou bounced back on Dec. 6 for a 53-28 victory over Presque Isle. The Vikes’ balanced attack was led b Krul with 13 points, Judd with 10, Dawson Hebert with eight and Connor Plourde with seven.
All-tourney players recognized
The all-tournament teams from preseason basketball tournaments held in Mars Hill (Nov. 30 and Dec. 1) and Washburn (Dec. 3 and 4) recently have been announced.
Making the boys’ elite squad were Tyler Levesque of Ashland, Mitchell Worcester of Washburn, Jesse Boulier of Southern Aroostook, Jared Hafford of Easton, Kyle Bouchard of Houlton and Chandler Brewer of Central Aroostook.
Members of the girls’ all-tourney team were Mackenzie Worcester, Carmen Bragg and Carsyn Koch, all of Washburn; Sarah Grass of Central Aroostook, Lauren Doak of Fort Kent and Natalie Hill of Houlton.
Baseball trip
The 11th annual Fantasy Baseball Trip, offered through the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville, will be held July 24-28, 2013. The trip is organized by Vaughn Clark and the cost is $825 with a $150 deposit and a monthly payment plan available.
The game schedule for the 2013 trip includes: July 24, Atlanta Braves at New York Mets; July 25, Pittsburgh Pirates at Washington Nationals; July 26 and 27, Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles; and July 28, Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees.
