St. Pierre finds business success

Natalie St. Pierre first worked with Women, Work and Community to build her resume and put her best foot forward in her job search. Next, she enrolled in a money management class to get control over her personal finances. Today, she is a proud business owner and economic development professional.

“I had a great many money concerns before coming to WWC. I had just been through a divorce and I was looking to rejoin the workforce,” said St. Pierre.

St. Pierre took Women, Work and Community’s five-week class, My Money Works, in order to understand better ways to manage her money and save for the future.

“It can be a real challenge to know how to save when you are already on such a tight budget,” she said. “This course really taught me the importance of paying myself first.”

She recently graduated from WWC’s New Ventures Entrepreneurship Training and launched her own business, Social Envy Image and Event Consulting. She also works with Northern Maine Development Commission as part-time business outreach coordinator for the Disability Employment Initiative (DEI) program.

“I really would encourage people to start by tracking your spending,” St. Pierre said. “I learned so much just by writing down and tracking where my money was going.” She also notes that “setting both long- and short-term money goals helps keep you moving in a positive financial direction.”
