Daigneault to visit for book signing sessions

Author Susan Dahlgren Daigneault, a County native who’s published a book about her war-hero father’s struggle with PTSD, will be returning to Aroostook this weekend to share the story during stops in Mars Hill, Presque Isle and Caribou.
“I have three book events scheduled in the County for April. I’ll be at the Walter T.A. Hansen Library in Mars Hill on Friday, April 12, at 6:30 p.m. for a book talk and signing event,” said Daigneault.
The first stop is an especially meaningful one for the writer.
“This is such a significant event for me, as a writer, since my first library experiences came from this library,” explained Daigneault.
Her next stop will bring her to the Star City.
“On Saturday, April 13, I’ll be at Café Sorpresso in Presque Isle at 1 p.m. for a talk and signing,” she said.
Daigneault’s last visit will be with area war heroes at the local veteran’s home.
“On Sunday, April 14, I’ll be at the Maine Veteran’s Home on the Van Buren Road in Caribou at 1 p.m. for my last book event,” she said.
Her book, “In the Shadow of a Mountain: A Soldier’s Struggle with PTSD,” recounts the life of World War II veteran and lifelong Aroostook County resident, Lt. Edward Dahlgren.
“‘In the Shadow of a Mountain’ relates the story of the price paid by my Dad, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Edward Dahlgren, and his family, following his combat experiences in Europe with the 36th Infantry Division,” said Daigneault.
Daigneault said the book is a “timely manuscript in that it details my father’s struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, a condition affecting many of our military veterans returning from war zones today. It is a book that will help readers to know about the devastation of war and how we must always provide care and comfort for our returning veterans.”
