Fairness board to hold hearing

PRESQUE ISLE — Maine’s Regulatory Fairness Board will hold a public hearing on Monday, May 10, from noon to 3 p.m. in the Alumni Room at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The hearing will follow Northern Maine Development Commission’s Affordable Care Act forum being held from 7:30-11 a.m. at the UMPI Campus Center.

The Regulatory Fairness Board was created in 2003 to hear from business owners and managers about specific state rules and regulations that may unreasonably impede business sustainability and growth. The board is interested in hearing recommendations for regulatory and statutory change that may enhance Maine’s business climate and reduce the regulatory burden on small businesses. Public comments set the meeting’s agenda and create the Board’s recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature.
The Board is chaired by Secretary of State Matt Dunlap, with four appointed members who represent the business community. For more information, call Peggy Schaffer, small business Advocate, Office of the Secretary of State, 626-8410, or visit http://www.maine.gov/sos/sba/index.html.
