Teen injured in State Road Accident

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A Presque Isle teenager was injured in a two-vehicle accident on the State Road on Tuesday, July 16.
The Presque Isle Police Department responded to a report of a multiple-vehicle crash on the State Road around 4:38 p.m.“Beth Curtis, 52, of Presque Isle, was stopped in westbound traffic on the State Road, waiting to turn. Lydia Short, 16, of Presque Isle, was distracted and ran into the rear of Curtis’ vehicle,” said Deputy Chief Laurie Kelly, of the PIPD.
Kelly said Curtis was driving a 2003 Toyota SUV that sustained minor damage but was not towed. Short was driving a 2011 Honda sedan. Short’s airbag deployed and the car was towed due to disabling damage.
“Curtis complained of neck pain but was not transported by ambulance. Short complained of leg pain and was transported to The Aroostook Medical Center by Crown Ambulance,” said Kelly.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Primary investigator, Sgt. Mark Barnes, of the PIPD, was assisted at the scene by members of the Presque Isle Fire Department.
The road was blocked briefly as emergency personnel worked to investigate and clear debris.
