HOULTON, Maine — First Baptist Church (FBC) is once again kicking off the fall season with a series of free community-wide events.
All children in the community are invited to Kid’s Fun Day on Saturday, from 1-3 p.m. This year’s theme is “God’s Mighty Kingdom.” All activities are free of charge. The event is geared to children ages 12 years and younger in the church parking lot located on 46 Court St. (The rain date is Sept. 7). Featured attractions include a monkey bounce house, face painting, clowns, balloons, music, karaoke an assortment of games, a maze and free cookies, ice cream and beverages – something for everyone.
“The Puffers” will be in concert at FBC on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 6:30 p.m. Their music contains a variety of styles including traditional gospel, southern gospel, country, folk and many humorous songs. Their humor and special guest, Nathan Ouellette will add to your enjoyment of the program. Come and enjoy a variety of instruments, styles, music and inspiration that will just make your day! The Puffer’s ministry glorifies God through music by ministering to local churches, preparing hearts for the preaching of God’s Word, edifying the Saints of God, and winning souls for the Lord Jesus Christ. Join the church in welcoming the Puffers in this free concert. A free-will offering will be taken.
The Third Annual Community Gospel Sing-along is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14, starting at 1 p.m. Weather permitting, this event is planned at the church parking lot, with an option to move inside if the weather does not cooperate. A variety of local talent will be performing including some favorite performers from the last two years, a unique and fun-loving string band several soloists and some new talent. Light refreshments will be served. Mark your calendars and come help us make a joyful noise unto the Lord. The Sing-along and refreshments are free of charge. Come show your appreciation for these wonderful musicians.
Senior Suppers — The church is now in its ninth year of serving free dinners to seniors in the community. Senior Suppers will kick off on Sept. 19 in Fellowship Hall at the church and are scheduled for the third Thursday of each month, September through June. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. and offered to those at least 62 years old and their guests of any age. It’s a great time of fellowship and our cooks provide a variety of excellent dinners throughout the year.
