Gaston, Joseph, 83, October 5, 2013. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, at The Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment to be held in the Evergreen Cemetery. A time of fellowship will be held after the services at the VFW. Arrangements by Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.
CARIBOU – Joseph Gaston, 83, died October 5, 2013, at Mars Hill. He was born at the Quebec City Orphanage, Quebec, May 7, 1930. He was the adopted son of the late Felix and Zeline (Monneaut) Lamarre of Caribou.
He attended the Sacred Heart School in Soldier Pond and married Willetta Thibodeau Elliott November 30, 1973. Mr. Gaston served with the US Army during the Korean War and was an active, faithful member of the Lister Knowlton Post 9389 VFW and the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion. He was employed by the Birds Eye Division of General Foods in Caribou and then, in 1972, retired from J.C Penney in Caribou. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church where he was an altar server, a member of the Catholic Golden Age as well as a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Joe was also an active member of the Cary Seniority program, the Caribou, Presque Isle and Mars Hill Senior Clubs and volunteered countless hours at the Maine Veterans Home, Caribou.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Willetta of Caribou, are his daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Ralph Corbin of Belgrade; a grandson, Troy Corbin and his wife, Nicki; and his special great-granddaughter, Breanna Corbin, all of Belgrade; several nieces, nephews, special cousins and special friends.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013, from The Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Following the services, all are invited to meet with the family for refreshments and fellowship at the VFW.
