Facility closed Monday

    In observance of Columbus Day, the Caribou Recreation and Wellness Center will be closed Monday, Oct. 14.

 

3-on-3 high school basketball tourney

    The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department will host a 3-on-3 high school basketball tournament on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. This tournament is for boys and girls currently in grades 9-12. Registration is $40 per team and the registration deadline is Nov. 1. Take It Outside Series

    The “Take It Outside” Adult Series is back again this year with exciting trips for area adults.
    On Oct. 15 is a trip to Bradford Camps on Munsungan Lake. The fee is $40, which includes transportation and lunch. Oct. 19 is a day hiking trip to Deboullie. The fee is $20, which includes transportation.
    Oct. 22 will feature a day in the North Maine Woods. The fee is $20, which includes lunch. On Oct. 26 is a Petit-Termis Bicycling Trip. We will travel to Cabano, Quebec and bike the famous Petit-Temis multi-use trail to Degelis, Quebec. The fee is $20. which includes transportation. Some bicycles are available for use.

Volunteers sought

    The recreation department  and the Caribou VFW and VFW Auxiliary will sponsor a community wide Fall Fun Festival for children up to grade 6 on Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center.
    Parks and recreation officials are seeking individuals, businesses or organizations that would be interested in providing a game or activity during the two-hour event. Inquires should be made at the Caribou Parks and Recreation office at 493-4224.

Men’s basketball

    Men’s basketball meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7-9 p.m. from Oct. 16 through April 30, 2014. There will be an organizational meeting on Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation center. Anyone interested in having a team in the league must have a representative at this meeting.
Men’s 30-and-over basketball
    Men’s 30-and-over basketball begins Oct. 15 and meets Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m.-noon through April 20, 2014. The program is designed for gentlemen 30 years of age and over and meets at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center gym. There is a $3 fee per person during the Sunday session.
