I had a nice, long telephone call from Dick and Claudette Delong, former residents of Island Falls, who now live in Brooksville, Fla. They informed me that there are new tenants now living in their trailer park who are from this area. It is Bob Margison and his wife from the Houlton area. Bob made many friends in Island Falls during the years he owned the Tin Mystery and all missed him when he left.
I had a nice visit from Jane (Pomeroy) Foster the other day on her way back to Caribou, after a short trip to the Patten area.
I still have many birds at my feeders, but still have seen no cardinals. Alas, I also have the big gray squirrels and the small red squirrels that have a hey-day eating every sunflower seed in sight. There is one feeder they can’t get into, or at least, haven’t found a way to, as yet.
And I was surprised to see the mourning doves still around. They are ground feeders so I throw out the sunflower seeds for them under the cedar tree. There were ll sorts of deer tracks now in the snow around my house. I will be throwing out more bread for them and maybe some cut-up apples. I haven’t had the good luck to see them a they usually arrive after dark.
