There will be a book signing and talk at the Walter T.A. Hansen Memorial Library in Mars Hill on Monday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m.
Emma Gingerich, author of “Runaway Amish Girl: The Great Escape” will be there to do a presentation on her book and to meet with any interested readers. There will also be copies available for purchase.
Aroostook Health Center
Upcoming events for the week of May 14-20 include: Wednesday is Fancy Dress Tea day and will also feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Wii Bowling at 9 a.m., Table Tennis at 9:30 a.m. and a Community Invite Fancy Tea Party at 1:30 p.m. Thursday is Fairy Tale Day and will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., Mom’s Favorite Recipes Theme Dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., AHC Starlites Dance performance and Strawberry Shortcake at 1:30 p.m. and Bridgewater Free Baptist at 6:30 p.m. Friday is Hawaiian Day and will feature Aloha Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Hawaiian Luau with the Wendall Hudson Band and refreshments at 1:30 p.m. Saturday is a free day. Sunday will feature the Full Gospel Assembly at 3 p.m. Monday will feature Coffee Chat at 9:30 a.m., Nail Beautiful at 10 a.m., Communion with Rev. Kierstead at 1:30 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m.

School fundraiser
Rosella’s of Mars Hill is proposing a fundraiser for the Central Aroostook High School classes of 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. The fundraiser will be on Monday and Tuesday nights. Rosella’s will make a $1 donation to the chosen class for each large pizza order when a patron mentions one of the above classes. In addition to the pizza money earned, at the end of the fundraiser, on Tuesday, May 27, the winning class will receive $100, second place will receive $75, third will get $50 and last place receives $25.

Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on May 6 at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center.
Rotarian Ed Wright spoke about the history of Rotary and the Mars Hill club. He also informed the club about the new Facebook page and website.
Homecoming 2014
Plans for Homecoming 2014 are underway. This years events will be held on Aug. 8-10. Plans are to include various activities at the high school on Saturday afternoon and the committee is looking for crafters and more to set up booths with crafts, foods, etc. Please contact Kathy Miller at 425-3771 if you would like to be part of this activity.
