The Houlton 10-11-year-old all-stars met Brewer in the first round of their District 3 Little League double-elimination tournament.
Houlton lost 24-4 and faced Hampden in an elimination game in Old Town yesterday.

In their first game, Brewer capitalized on costly Houlton errors to score 11 unearned runs in the top of the first inning. But, the Houlton all-stars came back in the bottom of the frame with Jeremiah Ireland drawing a walk, followed by a base hit by Elijah Matheson. With runners on base, Jeremy Stone roped a line drive double to score both runners. With Stone in scoring position, Austin Winslow delivered his own RBI-double.
The Houlton all-stars limited Brewer to just three runs in the second when left-hander Winslow stabbed a liner back to the mound followed by Matheson’s shortstop and Stone’s outfield stops.
Trailing 14-3, Houlton’s Matheson walked and moved into scoring position on Stone’s base hit. Drew Foley walked to load the bases. But, Houlton’s final run came when Matheson stole home on a passed ball.
In the third, one of Houlton’s coaches, Mike Matheson, said that nerves and jitters got the best of Houlton’s young club, as Brewer added six more runs to their tally.
Stone relieved Winslow in the fourth, as Houlton gave up four more runs. With Houlton unable to reach base in the bottom of the fourth, the game was called as Brewer won on the run rule.
