BROWN, Tena A., 83, MARS HILL, June 30, 2014. Arrangements under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
MARS HILL – Tena A. Brown passed peacefully away at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill, on June 30, at the age of 83. Tena was born to Claude V. and Leola (Davenport) York in a farmhouse between Mars Hill Mountain and the Canadian border on June 6, 1931.
She graduated from Aroostook Central Institute in 1949 and earned an Associate of Arts degree from Nasson College, Springvale, ME. Tena worked as a dietician at Maine Medical Center in Portland and then as a long-term employee at the McCain Foods plant in Easton, ME.
Tena is survived by her husband of 61 years, Stephen S. Brown, Jr.; children, Claudia Daniels and husband, Danny, William “Sam” Brown and wife, Paula, and Anne E. Chapman; grandchildren, Paul Wilcox and wife, Emily, Naomi Poulin and husband, Ross, Andrew Wilcox, and Emily Rose Smith and husband, Craig; great-grandchildren include Jack, Leah and Samantha Wilcox, and Elizabeth Anne Smith.
Tena was much beloved by her family, lifelong friends in the community and fellow workers at the McCain plant. Friends from all over frequently traveled to visit her in the family cabin in Westfield. Her warm wit, candor, humor and compassion endeared her to those who appreciated the strength and the kindness in her soul. Tena lived and shared a full life of meaningful work and a close, loving extended family. She blessed all those around her with uplifting humor and moments of glad grace. Memories of her shared comic predicaments and the ensuing laughter live on in the hearts of her friends.
The family wishes to express its deep gratitude for the thoughtful care provided by the medical staff at TAMC and the Aroostook Health Center, with special thanks to Dr. Eric Nicholas.
There was a graveside ceremony at the Tapley Cemetery in Blaine, at 2 p.m., on Saturday, July 5. Following the ceremony, all friends and family were invited out to the cabin for refreshments and fellowship. Arrangements under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
