PT Jennie Murphy HOULTON – Jennie E. Murphy, 95, passed away January 12, 2015, at a local hospital. She was born June 4, 1919, in Woodstock, NB, Canada, the daughter of Thomas L. and Mabel (Gray) Dunphy.
Jennie attended Houlton Schools. She met and married Charles L. Murphy on October 8, 1937. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, homemaker and dedicated employee at the Madigan Hospital for over thirty years while she and her husband Charlie raised two sons in very arduous times. She was an extremely affectionate person who loved and cherished her family. Despite their long distances throughout the country, Jennie was determined to keep the family united by providing relentless love and and caring words of encouragement. She always kept in touch with each and every one, providing that bond we know as “family”. Jennie provided that crucial link of love, understanding, and support to us all through good times and bad times. She left us with a legacy of true grit, determination, and personal responsibility. As one of her great-granddaughters said, “I will always remember her as one feisty lady.” She will be sorely missed by each and every one of us. Jennie enjoyed her home and her beautiful trees and flower gardens.
Jennie is survived by her son, Charles L. Murphy, and his wife, Bobbi, of Jacksonville, FL; her daughter-in-law, Joanne Murphy of Rockland; six grand-children, Carlton Murphy of Rockland, John Murphy and his wife, Gayle, of Owl’s Head, Tom Murphy of Rockland, Chris and Jenni Murphy of Jacksonville, FL, and Jim Murphy and his wife, Tammy, of Hollywood, FL; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granchild; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
