Swedish folksinger plans Easter show

CARIBOU, Maine — Sofia Talvik, a veteran performer from Sweden, is touring the United States (in an RV), which has taken her through 37 states doing more than 250 concerts. On Easter Sunday, April 16, she will bring her music to Aroostook County.

Talvik will be in concert at the Caribou Performing Arts Center from 6 to 8 p.m. Cary Medical Center and the New Sweden Historical Society have joined to bring the singer to the area to share music that blends her Scandinavian heritage with American tradition with sparkle and melancholy.

Concert organizers said In her travels, she has built her large audience through heartfelt and personal performances which captivate the listeners. She has numerous album and CD releases to her credit.

Tickets for the event are $10 each and are available at Anderson’s Grocery in Stockholm, Caribou One Stop and Ben’s Trading Post in Presque Isle.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the restoration of the Larson-Ostlund homestead in New Sweden, one of the oldest homes in the colony. In an effort to keep the Swedish heritage alive, the New Sweden Historical Society endeavors to keep these historical buildings in original condition for the enjoyment of the residents and visitors to New Sweden.
