Presque Isle’s Emily Wheaton has earned a berth on the prestigious Bangor Daily News All-Maine Schoolgirl Basketball Team.
Wheaton, the junior point guard for the Wildcats, was voted to the third team.
The team, selected without regard to position or class, is compiled by the BDN staff with statewide input from coaches, officials, media and longtime observers.

The 5-foot, 5-inch Wheaton averaged 18.9 points, 4.7 assists and 2 steals per game during the season. She was named to the Big East Conference first team and was a BDN Class B all-tourney selection.
She shot 45 percent from 3-point range and 80 percent from the foul line, helping her team into the semifinals of the Class B North tournament this past season.
“She is a great all-around player,” said PI coach Hudson. “She makes all her teammates better. She breaks the press for us. She can shoot from anywhere.”
Houlton coach Shawn Graham called Wheaton “the best point guard in Class B and one of the best ball handlers around.”
Making the first team were Kolleen Bouchard of Houlton, Anna DeWolfe of Greely, Sophie Holmes of Messalonskee and Emily Esposito and Mackenzie Holmes, both of Gorham.
The second team consisted of Katie Butler of Bangor, Heather Kervin of Winslow, Jordyn Reynolds of Edward Little, Madeline Suhr of Brunswick and Tasia Titherington of Deering.
Wheaton was joined on the third team by Page Brown of Boothbay, Lauren Chadwick of Gardiner, Morgan Dauk of George Stevens Academy and Brie Wajer of Lincoln Academy.
Wheaton’s Wildcat teammate, senior forward Emily Lagerstrom, was among 27 other players earning honorable mention.
