From the Bunkers – Week of May 10, 2017

The golf course has officially opened. We mowed greens, inserted flags, and set tee boxes on Wednesday, ready for Thursday’s opening. It turned out to be a wonderful day, with many people venturing out to play.

Although it is a little damp in places, our course is in mid-June conditions. Because of the weather, power carts are not yet allowed on the course, but we are evaluating the situation daily.

Ray Mailman has told me that sign-up sheets are posted for the Monday night Men’s league. There will be three divisions, based on number of teams, at 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Swing out by and sign up or call the pro shop and they will add your team.

There are a limited number of slots, so please do so by the end of the month so that schedule can be set and we can begin in early June. Singles can apply and we will try to put you together.

Also remember to sign up for our annual four-person scramble, The Memorial, on Saturday, June 3, starting at 10 a.m. The tournament reflects on those golfers who are no longer with us. This is a fun nine-hole tournament, and proceeds from entry fees go to the Beautification Committee for flowers and other additions to the course to enhance your experience. All golf abilities are invited. New members and singles can call the course and we will put you together. Let’s make this one of our biggest fields

The Lakeside Restaurant is up and running again. We will be open regular hours Wednesday thru Sunday. There has been good attendance on weekends so give Nancy a call at 694-9494 to make your reservations. Hope to see you out on the course as soon as possible.
