Phyllis Estey Perdue

ASHEBORO, North Carolina – Phyllis Estey Perdue, age 86, of Asheboro, NC, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at her home.

Mrs. Perdue was born in Presque Isle, Maine, on November 3, 1930 to Donald and Ada Mae Carter Estey. She was a Christian woman who loved to spread God’s word. Phyllis was a member of First Baptist Church where she worked with the Joy Class and was active with The Joyful Singers. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband an Air Force Vietnam Veteran, William E. Perdue, Jr. and sister, Donna McKenney. Phyllis was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, and sister. She enjoyed fishing, baking banana bread, travelling with her family and ice skating.
She is survived by her daughters, Debra P. Beal and husband Kenneth of Ramseur, Diane P. Poplin and husband Mike of Asheboro, NC, Sheila P. Harvey and husband Vernon, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, and Charlotte P. Leonard of Asheboro, NC; sons, David A. Perdue and wife Linda of Clarksville, TN, Charles M. Perdue and wife Teresa of Asheboro, NC, William E. Perdue III and wife Rhonda of Asheboro, and Phillip E. Perdue and wife Karen of Asheboro; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Rena E. Schultz of Woodstock, GA, and Arlene E. Beckwith of Presque Isle, ME, brother, Roger Estey of New Brunswick, Canada.
The family received friends on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 133 North Church Street, Asheboro, NC, with Dr. Scotty Carpenter and Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Burial followed in Oaklawn Cemetery.
