An opportunity for weather watchers

Here in The County, we sure have a lot of folks who love to follow the weather. And I’ve run into plenty of them who would love to learn more about it as well.

Well, I’ve got some good news. Through UMPI’s OpenU initiative, there are five slots, tuition-free, in my weather observation class. They are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

This class begins on Aug. 28 and runs through Dec. 14. It meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1:45 in Folsom Hall, room 203.

Interested? Here’s what you need to do. Call Pam Easler at 768-9450 and tell her you would like one of the OpenU slots for Ted’s weather class. Remember, act fast, as there are only five slots that are tuition-free. The course number is ENV 120.

This is a really fun class, in which you will learn about easy-to-recognize weather clues, while also learning about the weather hazards that are most likely to be encountered here in Northern Maine.

If you have any questions, please send me an email at the address just below this column.

Hope to see you on campus.
