Pines Partners with local veterans

CARIBOU, Maine — Pines Health Services announced today that it has partnered with the United Veterans of Maine to deliver a variety of healthcare services.  This partnership will improve and expand the delivery of affordable dental, medical and behavioral health services to veterans at Pines health centers in Van Buren, Washburn, Presque Isle, Caribou and Fort Fairfield.

“In Maine, 79% of veterans live in rural communities.  Navigating through the scattered services that a veteran may need is challenging.  This is where Pines will step in; the Pines team is here to help our veterans who are in need of the affordable, quality care they want and deserve”, said John Deveau, Executive Director for United Veterans of Maine.  Over 3 million rural veterans rely on the VA for care, but the application process can be complicated.  The VA applies a variety of factors during the application verification process when determining a veteran’s eligibility for enrollment.  Deveau has quickly learned that although the VA can help several of our veterans, many are still living without a healthcare home due to high costs and poor access.

“Access to medical, dental and behavioral health services can substantially improve the quality of a person’s life”, said Jim Davis, CEO of Pines Health Services.  “Untreated health conditions can lead to a wide range of more serious health problems.  Providing our veterans with the resources they need, such as case management, prescription assistance transportation to and from appointments, will ensure they receive consistent, comprehensive care.”

The United Veterans of Maine, much like Pines, shares the same mission and vision of providing a compassionate, nurturing environment to the people in our community, and this agreement exemplifies our dedication to those who have bravely served and sacrificed on behalf of our country.
