Rotary Auction organizers gear up for another busy event

HOULTON, Maine — The 62nd Annual Houlton Rotary Auction is less than a month away and already more than $65,000 in items has been donated.

Included in the donations this year is a Baskahegan Camp Series Log Package from Ward Log Homes valued at $15,900 along with furniture, art work, baked goods and gift certificates. More items are expected to be included before the event takes place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 20-22.

Tickets recently went on sale for a drawing for a $500 certificate from Dead River. The certificate can be used for any product from Dead River and is good in the Houlton/Patten District. Tickets cost $1 each or a book of six can be purchased for $5. The drawing will be held on the final night of the auction. Tickets are available from any member of the Houlton Rotary Club and at several businesses.

The Houlton Rotary Auction is the major fundraiser for the club and this year will feature some new aspects. In addition to the traditional auction format used in prior years, where individual call in to bid on half hour, nightly and Three-Night Specials, this you will also feature a Facebook auction.

Items will be featured each night of the auction and people will be able to place bids on Facebook throughout that day. The bidding will close each night at the close of the regular auction.

What started as a radio auction has expanded to cover several platforms. The Houlton Rotary Auction can be heard on WHOU 100.1 FM, seen on TV on Pioneer Channel 100 and Spectrum Channel 16. It will be streamed on and can be followed on Facebook.

The Auction funds a variety of local projects. Further information on the Houlton Rotary Radio, TV and Internet Auction is available by contacting auction chair Nate Bodenstab, club president Matt Nightingale or any member of the Houlton Rotary Club.
