HOULTON, Maine — Employees of a local community bank recently donated $769 to the Autism Society of Maine.

“Once a month Katahdin Trust employees can donate a minimum of $1 to participate in our Casual Because We Care program,” explained Krista Putnam, vice president, marketing.

“We are very pleased to provide Autism Society of Maine with this donation. Their work helps ensure that resources and support are available to autistic individuals and their families throughout Maine,” Putnam said. “We appreciate all their efforts and are excited to do our part to help make a difference in our communities.”

Katahdin Trust employees can dress casually on the second Friday of each month to support various non-profit organizations throughout Maine. Each employee who participates in Casual Because We Care Days donates a minimum of $1 in exchange for the privilege to dress casually and wear jeans. Proceeds are sent quarterly to a pre-selected non-profit organization.

The Autism Society of Maine (ASM) is a non-profit organization founded in 1976.
