Island Falls Notes (week of November 1, 2017)

Kylie Dunphy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Dunphy, is in London, England, where she has enrolled in a college there and is studying environmental changes, a course that will take four months to complete.

She is staying in a flat (we call them apartments ) with several other girls, all English, and is having the time of her life, seeing all the sights when not studying. When the course ends in December, she plans to stay on longer and drive around the country and see the different parts of the country.

A Country Jamboree has been scheduled to be held at the Island Falls Snow Club on Nov. 12, beginning at 2 p.m. and going until 4:30. This will be held every other Sunday thereafter. The leader is Allen (Dusty) Brown, and he encourages anyone who plays a guitar, fiddle, whatever, to come and join in. He lives in Oakfield and can be reached there for any more information.

I have finally seen my one little chipmunk. I hadn’t seen him for several days and missed seeing him sitting on the limb of the cedar tree.

And my birds are slowly coming back to the feeders, after being absent for months. Also, from my back window I saw a small flock of robins last week, so I guess that’s a good sign.

Got a glimpse of a couple of deer, also, and someday will start throwing out the old bread for them.

My maple trees are now pretty bare of leaves and I’ve had a good time picking them up with my leaf-catcher attached to my lawn mower.
