Maurice Charles ‘Pete’ Mahoney

WARWICK, RI – Maurice Charles ‘Pete,’ 79, of Warwick passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 29, 2017, after a hard fought battle with Multiple Myeloma.

He was the beloved husband of Carole Mahoney for 59 years. Both born in Maine, Carole and Pete chose to stay in New England and moved to RI in the late 50’s to begin their lives together and start a family of their own. Both worked in the real estate and banking industries until their daughters were born.
He then went on to climb the ranks of the financial departments in various roles reaching the height of Senior Vice President. Although his primary focus in life was providing for his family, he stayed very active in the community. He generously gave his time and energy providing stewardship and served on the Board of Trustees for Pilgrim Lutheran Church for over 40 years. During these years Pete stayed committed and loyal to his employers at Old Colony & Citizen’s Bank for nearly 48 years, continuing on as a trusted adviser and part time consultant before he retired at 70.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters Kim Johnson, Pamela Urbach and her husband Mike Urbach and two grandsons, Andrew and Nick Johnson; three siblings and their spouses, Norma Johnson and her husband Clayton, Frances Etheridge and her husband Bud and Graydon Mahoney and his wife, Martha, along with several nieces, nephews and numerous life time friends.
The Service Celebrating Pete’s Life will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Warwick, RI at 11 a.m. on Monday, January, 15, 2018. Reception immediately following in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1817 Warwick Ave, Warwick, RI 02889.
