Youth advance in Hotshot competition

CARIBOU, Maine — The local Hotshot basketball skills competition was held at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center Friday, Feb. 2, with 14 youth taking part in the event sponsored by the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department.

Those who were in the top three in their respective age divisions advanced to the regional competition on March 2, also to be held at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. The top shooters from local competitions held throughout Aroostook County will be vying for titles.

Caribou youth who qualified were, 9-10 girls, first place, Brynne Hamilton; 9-10 boys, first, Owen Corrigan; 11-12 girls, first, Amelia Godin; and second, Madelynn Deprey; 11-12 boys, first, Reece Cavagnaro; second, Wesley LaPointe; and third, Griffen McNeal; 13-15 boys, first, Michael Brigman; and second, Alex Levesque; and 16-18 boys, first, Dylan Marrero.
