CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou girls’ and boys’ high school teams and the Fort Fairfield girls’ middle school team emerged as champions in the annual Caribou Indoor Soccer Tournament, held at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center March 24 and 31.
Caribou was joined by Fort Kent and Houlton in the girls’ high school tourney, while Houlton, Presque Isle and Mars Hill were the teams in the boys’ competition.
Members of the victorious Caribou girls were Emily Adler, Abbi Allen, Kearstin Coty, Taylor Devoe, Sage Dubay, Ashley Matlock, Olivia Picard, Alexis Rodriguez and Willow Whitten.
Caribou boys players were Cullin Caverhill, Alex Ezzy, Noah Hixon, Hayden Hunter, Nic Sleeper and Theo Strid.
Seven girls’ teams participated in the middle school tourney a week later. Houlton entered three teams, while Presque Isle, Mars Hill, Fort Fairfield and Caribou fielded the others. Teams played six games each in the round-robin portion and then entered a single-elimination playoff. Fort Fairfield came out as the top seed and defeated Houlton Black in the finals.
Camryn Ala, Kassidy Gorneault, Lydia Gorneault, Jayde McKenney, Sarah McShea, Kira Rogers and Phoebe Solomon were players on the winning team.
