Jackson presented legislative sentiment to the Collins sons

Maine Senate Minority Leader Troy Jackson of Allagash presented a legislative sentiment to two of the sons of the late former Senator Don Collins on Thursday, memorializing the elder Collins’s extraordinary life and many years of service to his country and to Maine. With Jackson are, from left, Sam and Gregg Collins and Senate President Mike Thibodeau. “Don lived to be 92, and he served his community and his country for every one of those 92 years,” said Sen. Jackson. “He was a veteran of World War II with two Purple Hearts, a business owner who employed many members of this community, and a public official who served as a representative, senator and mayor. His hard work and many accomplishments on behalf of the people of Maine wouldn’t fit on a legislative sentiment. Above all, he was an excellent father and a loyal husband. My condolences go out to his family—he will be missed.” Don Collins, also the father of Sen. Susan Collins, passed away on March 10, shortly after his 70th wedding anniversary.
