Several playoff games slated Tuesday

With rainy and cold weather expected on Tuesday, many preliminary baseball and softball games have been postponed, but a still remain on the docket.

Baseball games still on for Tuesday include No 11 Hodgdon (5-9) at No. 6 Penobscot Valley of Howland (13-3);  and No. 14 Southern Aroostook (4-10) at No. 3 Woodland (14-2) in Class D North matchups. Both games begin at 4 p.m.

The prelim game in Stacyville between No. 12 Ashland (5-8) and No. 5 Katahdin (10-4) has been postponed and will now be played Wednesday at 4 p.m.

In addition, the prelim game between No. 10 Deer Isle-Stonington (4-12) at No. 7 Greater Houlton Christian Academy (11-3) slated to be played in Hodgdon today has been moved to Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Tuesday’s Class D North prelim softball game involving local teams features No. 9 Madawaska (7-7) at No. 8 Central Aroostook (5-9) at 2 p.m.

The scheduled softball game in Ashland between No. 13 Schenck of East Millinocket (3-13) and No. 4 Ashland (9-5) has been moved back until Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The softball game between No. 11 Fort Fairfield (6-8) at No. 6 East Grand (11-2) in Danforth has been postponed to Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Both Presque Isle squads also were supposed to be in action in Class B North prelims Tuesday, but SAD 1 Athletic Administrator announced Tuesday morning that the games have now been moved to Wednesday due to the predicted wet weather along the coast.

The PI softball team, 7-9 and ranked 11th, will square off against sixth-seeded Medomak Valley in Waldoboro (10-6) at 2 p.m. The baseball team, with a 6-10 record, carries the No. 13 ranking and plays No. 4 Oceanside (13-3) at 4 p.m.

Also in the Class B North ranks, the Caribou baseball team (4-12), seeded 14th, draws No. 3 Mount Desert Island (11-5) for a 4 p.m. game on Wednesday in Bar Harbor.
