CARIBOU, Maine — The ninth annual Caribou Summer Viking Wrestling Camp, billed as the “most northern wrestling camp in the continental United States,” will be held 9:30-11:30 a.m. each day, June 25-29, at Caribou High School.

The camp is geared toward students entering grades 3-12 this fall. The cost is $25 and checks should be made payable to the Caribou Athletic Department. Registration is held from 9-9:30 a.m. on the first day of camp on June 25.

The clinician is James “Chico” Hernandez, head varsity wrestling coach at CHS. He is Maine’s only wrestler inducted into the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) National Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Maine Sports Hall of Fame. He owns 44 international wrestling titles and is a 36-time all-American in Sambo, freestyle, Greco-Roman and American high school/college wrestling.

Hernandez has been featured on a box of Wheaties Energy Crunch cereal and in “Faces in the Crowd” in Sports Illustrated.
