5K race in Caribou is third in race series

CARIBOU, Maine — The S.W. Collins Company’s 5K road race, the third in the series of nine races in the Aroostook Musterds running club’s County Challenge Series, will be held Sunday, June 24, in the parking lot at 6 Washburn Street in Caribou.

Age divisions for the race will be 14 and under, 15 to 18, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, 70 and over and a walkers’ division.

A Kids’ Fun Run will be run in the yard of the S.W. Collins Company looping around the buildings and running along the pond where logs once floated before being sawed in the mill. The five divisions are ages 4 and under, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and ages 11-12 and the race will range from sprints to three laps around the buildings.

Registration for all the races will start at 8:30 a.m. The Kids’ Fun Run begins at 9 a.m., the walkers’ race at 9:45 a.m. and the runners’ race at 10 a.m.

All proceeds from the $13 registration fee will be donated to Caribou High School to help fund athletic programs. The first 75 participants will receive a T-shirt and there will be a drawing for a pair of Asics running shoes, donated by Sleepers’ Shopping Center in Caribou.
