MADAWASKA, Maine — Over 10,000 customers lost power for power for a little over half an hour in northern Aroostook Monday morning, according to Emera Maine.

The outage started at about 9:55 a.m. and affected several communities include New Sweden, Caribou, Connor, St. Agatha, St. John, Madawaska, Frenchville, Fort Kent, Eagle Lake, Wallagrass, Winterville, Cyr Plantation, Woodland, Westmanland, Perham, and Stockholm.

Power was restored in all areas by 10:30 a.m., according to Emera Maine’s media communications specialist Judy Long.

She said Monday afternoon that the cause was still unknown, but that crews with New Brunswick Power were patrolling their end of the affected transmission lines to make a determination.

“We try to return and reroute the power as quickly as possible,” she said.
