Rotary Club

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, July 24 at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center.  The guest speaker was Dan Raymond, a Paramedic/Firefighter in Caribou and a Shrine Klown named Band-Aide.  He is also very involved with the Northern Maine Antique Tractor Club. The club was established in 2008 to help build awareness of our agricultural heritage for future generations.

The club holds tractor pulls 8–10 times a year at various sites and does an annual Tractor Trek — this year’s trek was 40 miles with 18 tractors.  The Trek raised around $1,200 this year for scholarships and to support the Agricultural Heritage Museum. They also do a plow day each year using antique tractors to plow 35-40 acres.  The Tractor Train used at the Northern Maine Fair and other events is also done by the club for the enjoyment of all the children wanting a ride.
