Diana Rae (Chamberlain) Bush-Halverson

DELMONT, PA – Diana Rae (Chamberlain) Bush-Halverson, 64, of Delmont, PA, and previously resided in Lake City, MN, passed away in her home on Thursday, August 9, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. During the end of Diana’s battle she was cared for in her home by her devoted sisters, Donna and Nancy. Diana’s favorite saying and the words she lived by during her cancer was “You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.” She had a deep faith and throughout her illness, she always remained positive. Her family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the loving and compassionate care from her doctors at Hillman Cancer Center, Mayo Clinic, and her Hospice Nurse, Terri Simco.
She was born on June 2, 1954, in Caribou, Maine, and was the daughter of the late Donald and Rosalie (Johnson) Chamberlain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James B. “Shrub” Bush. She is survived by her second husband of 16 years, Michael H. Halverson of Lake City, MN, and a daughter, Debra Stillwagon (Wesley) of Greensburg, PA, and a son, Jason Bush (Monica) of Murrysville. Her most precious treasures were her five grandchildren, Chad, Hannah, and Sophia Stillwagon, and Emerson and Jameson Bush. She is also survived by her nine siblings, including her twin sister, Donna Chamberlain of Preque Isle, ME, and her brothers, Dana Chamberlain of Topsham, ME, Mark Chamberlain (Felicia) of Fuquay Varina, NC, Randy Chamberlain (Sandra) of Washburn, ME, and Alan Chamberlain (Nancy) of Hollis, ME, and her sisters, Nancy Pratt of Gorham, ME, Carol Taylor of Presque Isle, ME, and her late son, Daniel Chamberlain, Karen Mosher of Presque Isle, ME, and Linda Quinn (Kevin) of Palm Dale, CA, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Diana proudly served and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. She enjoyed much of her life socializing with family, friends, crafting, playing bingo, going to the casino, and playing on her iPad. She also loved her cats, all nine of them, especially Backie and Bear. Diana was a former member of Delmont Ladies Auxiliary. She was a hard worker and enjoyed the people in the community. She worked at the former Fatur’s Market of Delmont in the deli and bakery departments, and at Eastview Union Cemetery and afterwards, at Fiesta Foods in Lake City, MN, where she formerly resided.
A visitation was held from 2 – 4 p.m. and from 5 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at Bash-Nied Funeral Home, Delmont, PA, 724-468-8381 where funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ross C. Bash presiding. Interment services followed at Eastview Union Cemetery in Delmont with Full Military Honors presided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 33 of Greensburg.
