THOMAS R. ‘BOB’ HORTON, LINNEUS – Thomas R. Horton (Bob) passed away peacefully on October 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Atlantic City, NJ, on May 7th, 1935, to Samuel R. and Hazel J. Horton.
Bob attended school in Pleasantville, NJ; beginning at St. Peter Parochial and later attending Pleasantville High School. “Officially,” Bob was a carpet installer by trade, but everyone would agree, he was truly a man of many talents. He loved bottle digging, woodworking, gardening, hunting, and fishing. His greatest pleasure, however, was spending time with his family.
Bob was a man of impeccable character and great integrity. He was totally devoted to his beloved wife of 62 years, June, to his children, and to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob was predeceased by his parents; brothers, George, Stanley, Mickey, and Sammy; and in-laws, Wesley and Evelyn Norton.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his daughters, Terry (Scott) Davenport, Robin (Dennis) Fox, and his son Tom (Rachel) Horton. Also surviving are his six grandsons and their families, all of whom he adored, Josh (Sami) Davenport, Dennis Fox (Jamie Kerr), Nick (Kristin) Davenport, Joe (Ali) Fox, and Sam and Matt Horton. Bob cherished his six great-grandchildren, Dylan, Paisley, Ryan, Blake, Jase, and Finleigh. He also leaves behind two brothers, David and Jimmy (Donna) Horton; a special brother-in-law, Wesley Norton; along with a host of nephews and nieces.
Those who knew Bob, knew he was never one for the center of attention and in keeping with his wishes, there will be no service. Charitable donations can be made in Bob’s name to Sarah’s House in Brewer, ME, or to Hospice of Aroostook County, ME. Finally, the family extends a special thank you to those who helped us along the way.
