From the Bunkers (week of October 17, 2018)

HOULTON, Maine — The autumn colors have displayed their beauty, and now with wind and rain they are starting to depart. I played nine holes on Tuesday with friends and it was 69 degrees. I played again on Sunday under sunny skies and it seemed quite comfortable at 45. Available golf time is coming to a close. I would like to thank our wonderful grounds crew, under the direction of Bob Gray, for doing a great job maintaining the course this year. Thank you Paul Madigan, Brian Hammond, Ben Goodwin, and Tyler Putnam.

The crew will be wrapping up this week, so if you are playing now it is very important for you to take care of your course. Don’t forget to replace your divots if you can and of course repair your ball marks on the greens and one more. This will help the turf recover over the winter.

Thank you to Ray Mailman and his clubhouse crew for an outstanding season. Thank you Bart Dunn, Pam Mailman, Jackie White, Beth Dee, and Trish McCarthy. You can stop in this week and express your thanks to them in person.

The Lakeside Restaurant Is operating regular hours through the end of October. In November, they will only open for Friday and Saturday night dinner and their famous Sunday Brunch. Call Nancy at 694-9494 to make your reservations. Their last entertainment night will be Friday, Nov. 9.

I wish all our golfing friends have a wonderful winter and we’ll see you back on the course in the spring. Thank you and have a great winter.
