To the editor:
On Nov. 6, I will cast my vote to re-elect our representative, Trey Stewart to the Maine House. It may just be the easiest vote I’ve cast in my life. Let me tell you why
Rep. Stewart has made economic development in Aroostook County one of his top priorities. He campaigned on working to improve our economy and create an environment for growth and he’s delivered for us. As a freshman and in a divided Legislature, he was able to get four bills passed that reduced unnecessary regulation on our small businesses, provided incentives to grow our labor force, and secured funding to stimulate growth in The County. Small business and entrepreneurship are the backbone of our economy and Rep. Stewart is a champion of both in Augusta.
In addition to his work on economic development, Rep. Stewart has received an “A” rating and endorsement from the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, which shows me that he understands and appreciates the importance of Maine’s rich outdoor traditions. At a time when it seems that our hunting and Second Amendment rights are constantly under attack by special interest groups abusing our referendum system, it’s a relief to know that we have representatives in Augusta who have the guts to stand up for our Aroostook County values.
Conversely, his opponent in this race, who even when he was previously present in the State House, was routinely too afraid to cast a vote on pivotal legislation directly related to our Second Amendment rights. Rep. Stewart’s opponent for instance refused to vote on Constitutional Carry.
I urge everyone in Presque Isle to join me in voting for Rep. Trey Stewart on Nov. 6. He’s one of us and a proven leader with the track record to prove it.
