Craft Fair helps Daze

The Fall Craft Fair for the support of the Mapleton Daze Festival was well attended and deemed a success by the Mapleton Daze Committee. The Committee thanks everyone who came to the support the fair.

After her presentation at the Haystack Historical Museum On October 20th, Dr. Dena Winslow continues discussing her research on the history of the iconic potato basket with Castle Hill resident Dana Allison. Winslow’s presentation covered the history of the potato basket, Native American basket construction and the history of potato farming in Aroostook County.

Funds raised at the fair will be used to support the 2019 Mapleton Daze Festival including its fireworks show, parade and other activities.

First Friday luncheon

The monthly First Friday luncheon at the Mapleton Methodist Church is scheduled for Nov. 2 at 11:30 a.m.

The luncheon promises to be a fun luncheon. The October luncheon was a pizza and salad bar feast, and who knows what the chefs will prepare for November, but everyone will be thankful for this special fall meal.  The chefs are planning an enjoyable lunch for everyone.

While the food is always delicious, the real joy is being with long-time friends as well as making new friends sharing family updates, stories and memories.   Remember there is no charge for the lunch, but donations will be accepted.

Senior luncheon

On Monday, Nov. 5, at 11:30 a.m., the Mapleton, Chapman and Castle Hill Senior Citizens group will hold their next meeting.

At the Mapleton, Chapman and Castle Hill Senior Citizens October meeting Christine McPherson from the Aroostook Retired Seniors Program informed the group of RSVP’s volunteer opportunities. Here McPherson hands an information brochure to Pastor John Defelice, a member of the seniors group.

Caroline Ballerstein reminds the community that everyone over age 55 is invited to attend and join the group.  Please keep in mind the luncheon is potluck, which is enjoyed by all who attend because the food is really great.

On Wednesday  November 7, the Chapman Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club will hold the monthly directors’ meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the clubhouse.  Also the annual landowner turkey supper will be held at the clubhouse. Dinner will be free for all landowners and paid 2017-2018 members.
