Cooking with Susie Q (week of November 7, 2018)

Snow, freezing rain, sleet and some hail in some areas this past week. Oh my! If  I see locusts, I’m definitely rethinking my behavior.

I am sharing a recipe for stromboli this week. My family always enjoyed it and with prepared pizza dough or frozen bread dough, it is quick, easy and delicious!

Stromboli

2 (1 pound) loaves frozen bread dough, thawed

1/ 4 lb thinly slice pepperoni

1/ 2 lb  thinly sliced ham

1/ 2 lb thinly slice mozzarella or provolone cheese

salt and ground black pepper to taste

1 egg white, lightly beaten

Directions: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Roll out bread dough  to 3/4-inch thickness. Layer, ham, pepperoni, and cheese on dough leaving 1/ 2 inch at edges. Roll dough to cover ingredients, pinching and sealing edges to prevent leakage; brush top with egg white.

Bake on lightly greased baking sheet in preheated oven until dough is baked and lightly browned, 20 to 25 minutes.  Makes 2.
