PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — United Way of Aroostook will hold its annual meeting from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, at the University of Maine at Presque Isle Campus Center.

The meeting will consist of a breakfast followed by a brief business meeting to install new members to the Board of Directors and to present several awards, including the agencies funded through the allocation process.

Awards will be presented to workplace campaigns which help to United Way reach its annual fundraising goal.  Other awards will be given to several community partners. United Way will also recognize the hundreds of donors, volunteers and County businesses who have supported its work throughout the year.

United Way officials will also announce the agencies who have been accepted for funding in the new fiscal year. The agencies who receive funds do great work which have a positive impact on the children, seniors and families who live and work throughout Aroostook County.

In addition to funds given to local agencies, United Way of Aroostook also financially supports many internally coordinated programs which address health, education and income, such as 211 Maine, Aroostook CA$H Coalition, Second Chances Kids’ Closet Clothing Giveaways, Santa’s Sleigh Project, Summer Slide Backpack Program, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.  It also helped raise necessary funds through telethons for fuel assistance and food insecurity. In addition, United Way coordinates donor designations to non-United Way agencies.

In total, United Way of Aroostook contributes nearly half a million dollars to the communities it serves.
